Integrating Art 2008-2009

Oak Grove artists have brightened our school! We have a beautiful bulletin board handmade by second grade and displayed in the main hallway. The students' work is inspired by our featured artist, Grandma Moses. It reminds me of the winters I spent in Pennsylvania growing up with my six siblings. Great job second grade! Kindergarten and First Grade created some very "cool" geometrically shaped snowmen. Their fall fruit baskets were just lovely. Third and Fourth grade can slide, flip and turn their geometric shapes to design some very attractive Mondrian style artwork. They are also getting pretty good with pastels and charcoal. Fifth grade origamists can fold paper into interesting likenesses. Their Matisse abstract designs make the hallway look very cheery. Come by the cafeteria, First grade hallway, or the hallway by the library to view some of the finished artwork. Parents, be sure to ask your students what they are learning in art each week. You'll be surprised at what they know!
